animation workshop
Our Animation Workshop is an intensive, 40-hour workshop (2 hours a day, 2 days a week) for children in grades 5 to 12, spread over 10 weeks. The workshop culminates in a series of finished films, a certificate of completion and a DVD copy of all films produced during the course.
During the course of the 10-week workshop, the students will be introduced to all aspects of animation, from the basics of movement and design to advanced ‘tricks of the trade’. The focus for this workshop is stop-motion animation, a traditional form beloved by generations and enjoying resurgence in the midst of a proliferation of computer graphics. By the end of the course, students will have the knowledge and skill to take their animation further, and it is our intention that some completed films be eligible for film festival submission. An exciting opportunity for anyone!
Not only will students design and animate their own creations, they will also gain a basic historical understanding of the world of animation with an emphasis on how the masters of yester-year can still influence the animation style of modern filmmakers. This enrichment of the students’ understanding is reinforced by a series of suggested homework options.
